A PARENT’S GUIDE
Notice where the task gets difficult.
Look at recent assignments together. Is the challenge reading unfamiliar words, explaining what a passage means, organizing a paragraph, remembering math steps, or applying a science concept? Ask your student to describe which part feels confusing and what they have already tried.
Talk with your student’s teacher.
Ask which skills the class is working on, where your student is making progress, and what practice may help next. Examples from class can help a family and tutor focus on the same learning goal.
Practice one goal at a time.
Choose a manageable skill, model a strategy, practice it together, and give the student a chance to try independently. Notice which steps are becoming easier and where another explanation or example may help.
Ask for individualized support when needed.
Best Educators Tutoring provides K–12 support in reading, phonics, vocabulary, writing, literature, mathematics and science, plus ACT, SAT and other test preparation. The $195 academic assessment helps identify strengths and instructional priorities. The director confirms the tutoring plan, schedule and fees before payment.
